Markets: Moody but Profitable

Hello, everyone, and welcome to this week’s biweekly market update. I’m Kelly Heppe, joined as always by my partner Tom Boh. Let’s dive into what we’re seeing in the markets.
Challenging headlines continue to cloud the outlook. Tariff uncertainty remains unresolved, and the latest PPI report came in hotter than expected. This complicates the inflation picture and makes the Fed’s job more difficult as it weighs the timing and magnitude of potential rate cuts. Tom, please tell us the good news.
Tom:
OK. The good news is that the market fundamentals remain resilient despite lots of headline noise. Reports on the S&P 500Q2 earnings are just over 90% complete and they've come in much higher than expected. Revenues are up year over year by about 6% and earnings are up year over year by about 12%. The bond market is holding steady. So in the next few weeks, projections for Q3 will start coming in and of course we'll keep you posted on that. Back to you, Kelly.
