Thoughts on Recent Market Volatility

Hello, and welcome to our biweekly meeting. I’m Tom Boh from the Boh Heppe Group, joined by my partners, Kelly and Alex. The past couple of weeks have been eventful, and we’d like to share our thoughts on the economic landscape during that time. Alex will start with an update on key economic data, followed by Kelly, who will share insights from a fantastic behavioral finance presentation we attended last night. Alex, I’ll turn it over to you.

Alex:
Thanks, Tom. Let’s dive into the data—since we closely track key economic indicators. Yesterday’s February inflation report came in at 2.8%, lower than expected. In response, our research partners at Strategas now anticipate a rate cut moving up from July to June, with two additional cuts projected for the year. While these are just forecasts, it’s a promising sign for the market. Of course, we’ll have to see how things unfold. Kelly, over to you.

Kelly:
Thanks, Alex. As Tom mentioned, last night we had the pleasure of attending a presentation by behavioral finance expert Michael Antonelli. One slide, in particular, stood out—it was simple yet powerful in illustrating how human behavior shapes our perception of the world. When we look back, we often see missed opportunities and regret, but when we look ahead, all we see is risk. The key takeaway is that we’ve traveled similar paths before, and uncertainty doesn’t always equate to danger. Recognizing our behavioral biases helps us navigate the present with a clearer perspective. Tom?

Tom:
That’s exactly right, Kelly. One reason the future feels risky is that we can’t control it—but that’s precisely why we plan. We help our clients manage risk through proper asset allocation, selecting the right money managers, and crafting personalized plans aligned with their goals. These are conversations we’ll continue having throughout the year.

Thank you for your trust and confidence.
